Playa del Carmen is one of the most unique diving destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, offering the chance to combine vastly different ecosystems in a single trip.
Here, you can transition from Caribbean reefs to the crystal-clear waters of cenotes, and also explore the waters off Cozumel—home to the second-largest barrier reef on the planet.
Our "Echoes of Waters" expedition combines 13 dives across cenotes, reefs, and shipwrecks, along with encounters with large marine species.
It is an experience designed to let you discover the Riviera Maya both underwater and on land.

Cenotes are a major reason to visit the Riviera Maya. These freshwater formations, connected to vast underground systems, offer a diving environment completely different from that of the Caribbean.
During the expedition, we will explore selected cenotes where light, rock formations, haloclines, and visibility create unique settings for diving and underwater photography.
No prior cenote experience is required, though good buoyancy and underwater control are essential.
Dives are conducted with specialized local guides.
Diving in Cozumel: Reefs and marine life of the Mexican Caribbean
The expedition also takes us to Cozumel, one of the most renowned diving destinations in the Mexican Caribbean.
Its walls and reefs offer drift dives amidst corals and a wide diversity of marine life.
During these dives, we may encounter turtles, eagle rays, moray eels, tropical fish, groupers, and nurse sharks, depending on conditions and the day's sightings.

Echoes of Water was created to blend two worlds: the underwater realm of Playa del Carmen and the Mexican culture found on land.
During the trip, we will have time to explore Playa del Carmen, visit Puerto Morelos, discover the ruins of Chichén Itzá or Cobá, and take part in experiences rooted in local culture.
We will also share in the Yucatecan Carnival celebrations and enjoy an unforgettable experience at a secret lagoon.
Bull shark diving in Playa del Carmen
Between November and March, the waters off Playa del Carmen receive seasonal visits from bull sharks—one of the magnificent encounters that make this area of the Mexican Caribbean so special.
During our expedition, which takes place between late January and early February, we will have the opportunity to undertake this dive.
Sightings cannot be guaranteed, as we are dealing with wild animals and conditions can vary.
Our philosophy is to observe wildlife without altering their behavior and to enjoy the encounter while always respecting the environment.
Underwater photography in Playa del Carmen and the cenotes
The Riviera Maya offers diverse settings for underwater photography: coral reefs, large marine life, shipwrecks, and the unique light of the cenotes.
During "Echoes of Waters," we will hold an underwater ambient photography workshop with Borja García, combining technique, hands-on practice, and in-water feedback.
Additionally, each participant will have an underwater photography session in the cenotes, allowing them to take home professional images of their experience.
Best time to dive in
Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen offers year-round diving, though conditions and encounters with specific species vary by season.
Our trip takes place from January 29 to February 7, 2027—an especially exciting time to combine diving in cenotes, on Caribbean reefs, and in Cozumel, with the chance to encounter bull sharks.
As always, marine life encounters depend on ocean conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
